Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 employees are
entitled to select at least one individual as a Safety Representative
to represent employees on matters related to Health & Safety.
The Safety Act also stipulates that the Safety Representative must
receive training to fulfill their duties. This course has been designed
to enable the Safety Representative to acquire the necessary knowledge
in order to fulfill those duties.
The subjects that are covered include, the Safety Health & Welfare
Act 2005 and the 2007 ‘Regulations’ including the duties
of the Safety Representative, hazard identification, risk assessment,
the contents of the safety statement, accident /incident investigation
and planned safety inspections.
The objective is to equip individuals with a good understanding of
the Safety Act, the responsibilities of a Safety Representative along
with the tools to enable good safety practices within the work place.
