A safety audit is an inventory or checklist of the features in a work
area, which includes a building, office area, factory floor, construction
site and any other work place, where personal and group safety is
affected. It allows you to take action to correct these features.
In part it identifies whether there is sufficient lighting, air space,
welfare facilities, emergency response procedures, accident investigation
procedures to name just a few of the points investigated during the
Safety Audit.
The goal of a Safety Audit is to identify and, if possible, to improve
an environment to make it safer and less threatening for its users.
The application of the findings of a
Safety Audit will likely result in a reduction in incidents and accidents,
through implementation of the correct procedures also identified by
the audit.
